Silently they meet Silently they meet in the meadow Tangled in strands of hair, his calloused hand cups her silken cheek they dance in the fragrant air pale hands in raven tresses the night beckons unto them sparkling and dense like some brilliant opaque gem eyes clamped together they drink in each others beauty hearts beating in unison caring nothing for the world of duty slowly their lips press together falling into a passionate sigh he presses an orchid to her hand as a single tear wells in her eye His fingers reach to catch that tear and press it to his lips She turns her face up to him For a long and lingering kiss The night is almost black now Not a single star in the sky Their hearts are breaking gently But their eyes, they do not cry Before this night is over The lovers, they will part Back to the worlds they belong in To forever bleed from the heart. "His fingers reach to catch that tear and press it to his lips" ~ Love the sweet sentimentality of that image! Enjoyed the entire poem. EA |

Hey Eirian. Nice to see another deeply romantic and beautiful poem. The story of them belonging in different worlds reminds me of the last few chapters of The Amber Spyglass. Take care, and keep sharing your lovely poetry with us. |
