          April Ice


          Somewhere
          quietly but nearby
          they quickly fly through this April sky
          chasing the receding ice
          just ahead of them

          Fragile and rotting
          under the rising arc of sun
          the knitted crystals gradually melt away
          to enable these laughing loons
          their search for laughing fish
