Ol’ pal ============================== A curvy creek with hovering trees. Heavy and greasy water and small rapids. The stream belongs to four boys fishing. The breeze is deciphering silence. A sandy sandwich is relished in trance. Do you not miss those days little captains? Do you not miss the strained ankle while returning and the young daughter of the village doctor covering you with a bandage, all over? Do you? © 2008 - All Rights Reserved Kushal Poddar =========================================== Someone ============================================ The man who is getting down from the bus seems strangely similar. She knows that she knew him. The old muffler around his neck, the eyes, weary and slightly estranged… she knows. She knew. Some day. Some year. Some age. Ages. Times. Distance. The windows with the known scenes are dissolving into something from a different history, geography, time. The bend of a blurred conception called road moves steadily towards what is next. She can see the moving trees and men till she see these no more. Only a man and something from past hinges together. A midnight sky, a human conversation from the time beyond are all she can recall and then the next stop comes where she alights. She is to take a hike behind, back. © 2008 - All Rights Reserved Kushal Poddar |

Kushal, as I said in my email a moment ago, PLEASE change the single lines in these poems to double lines, as it won't print out with single lines. I love both poems, especially the nostalgia in the first, and the mystery in the second, but wasn't quite sure what you meant by the last line in the second poem. Owl |

Yo Poddarku, These are interesting poems. I remember old pals, but being "city" we didn't do "fishing". We did other things. Bobby |

Lovely memories shared, it reminds me of my childhood days too with bandages. Streams and fishing. Much enjoyed Kushal. Not to mention the doctor's daughter. |

Nice to discover you have been here with such beautiful contributions, dear Ku. (I was busy with my grandsons who visited ...). The rides along memory lanes are always so fascinating. In the second poem, I thought the conclusion meant she was so absorbed in trying to remember that she forgot to get off and thus she had to go back ... it happened to me a couple of times, while reading books. I so love your vivid imagery. Love, Margherita |
