In Amanda Yellow

Once named, oh virtuous one, all I hoped to become was given birth
Each time saucer blue gleamed up into my open heart, and burst in flower
Bouncing blonde locks soon took on red radiance, and often purple blush
Snags of skinned knees, and romps along wood chipped playgrounds
We have walked across the country side, your hand reaching up for mine
Days overcast, when you shuffled behind me, serenading the trees in sonic booms
How I’ve loved the light you spread along the window sills, filling hollow rooms
Always my defender; sweet surrender to my own regard, puppies playing in the yard
My strength and my courage, oh yes you have been aptly named
And every spring, while I gather back ambition and move in spirit with the earth’s fruition
It is you that finds the brightest yellows, soon to be a step beyond me
And summer comes, imperial as I look forward to remembering with awe
Thank you for these times, these days and all the happy hours that for you I saw
Daughter, every day is certainly your sunshine
And every rise, I am grateful for your sweet surprise

I can most certainly feel and identify with the maternal quilt of love you knit with your tender stitch.

I have little doubt that A is a treasure that
will bless you always, just as you do her.

Smiling at the devotion of a mother and the
wonder of a daughter.

I've tried, without success, to write a poem that would do justice to my daughter, but all I have is an overflowing wastebin.
With this memorable and touching piece you have showed, with your writing skills , how it should be done.

I literally have tears in my eyes with the beautiful visions and sentiments in this expression of love for your daughter. Amanda is as beautiful as is her poetess mother.

A tear has just slipped down my cheek...as I smile...

Radiant with loving energy. You strummed the mommy in me.

Gotta go smooch my babies now.
