Tarry here, please, and watch with me Somehow, whatever things might be Will be much easier to face If friends watch with me in this place Knowing that soon I’ll be betrayed Burdens my heart, but plans were made Long years before I came to earth My end’s written as was my birth So sit a while, for I must pray And it would help if you could stay I am aware my path’s my own But I don’t want to be alone Soon I’ll be laid inside a tomb But I inhale olive’s perfume And pray this cup might pass from me If God so wills that such might be Sleep on, my friends, you need your rest I know that you have done your best When you awake, you’ll be contrite That you have slumbered through the night The hour is here, it’s come to this Pieces of silver for a kiss |

Yo dear Suthern, This is an excellent write. I loved your ending. Those thirty pieces of silver did come to a good end. They purchased the first Potter's field, a place to bury strangers. Love Bobby |

Ruth, what a beautiful, sensitive, personal tribute to/from Christ as a special Easter gift to Him! And what an interesting perspective! I love this. Owl |

Okay, I am not feeling very articulate after reading this poem (which I love, by the way). I feel gauche and unsophisticated because I can only think to say --- Wow! xoxoxo A |

Thank you, Alison, for giving me the opportunity to read this exquisite, compassionate, heart-rending thought-poem of Ruth's again on my quick stop in at Pip. Ruth, I previously thought of it as being a beautiful tribute/gift to Christ, but it is also a wonderful, wonderful gift to us, your readers. I have always been a Christian, but it is only in the last few years that I have actually thought of Christ's own thoughts of suffering and sadness at various times of his life, and have seldom (I am only saying "seldom" in case I am remembering wrongly that it was "never") if ever, read anything from Christ's point of view before your exquisite poem, Ruth. Thank you again (and again . . . oh, and again!) Owl |

"The hour is here, it’s come to this Pieces of silver for a kiss" you've captured one of the most dramatic passages of Scripture well...very nicely done...I've often thought of that kiss and found myself astounded at layers of love therein...thank you for sharing this exquisite jewel... |

I am glad I came across this now, as I missed it when you first posted it. I do love the way you speak in Jesus' voice. He was left alone by His very disciples that night, yet He understood and loved them nonetheless. All twelve of them ... Judas included. Beautiful work, dear Ruth. Love, Margherita |
