Images of you and her Drifting through the sky A perfect apparition Floating away into an oasis of love Shades of blue and clouds so soft The sun's rays Reflect off her eyes So beautiful, those green eyes I watch from another point of view Where I stand, where only I can see The rain clouds forming overhead Black skies approaching Lightning strikes in the cold, dry air Thunder crashes, God's laughing And now you look just in time to see her blow away Drift off into Hell You're brought back to Earth Placed right beside me You look so lonely, tears falling from your eyes You quickly grasp my hand Tightening your grip, as if begging for my attention But baby, you left me here alone And to act like nothing happened . . . I turn my head to meet your gaze We stare at the sky together The sky that brought her to earth Right before she took you from me And now that she's gone You act like it was always us Do you remember how I told you you'd regret this Before you walked away? And you smiled and said, "she's so much better." Well she's all yours, now. I would never take you from her. Because the truth is . . . I feel nothing. Emily Shives January 8th 2009 |

I can feel the hurt in this...and the independent strength. Good write! |
