He hears distant shouts,
like words muffled through a string tied between tin cans.
"Do it man,
Shoot the lock.
I'm right behind you."

Pressed hard against the bricks of Falujah
he prays to Kasal,
curses the lock,
tries to will himself through the door.

His body sticks to the brick.

Thank you for the replies.
I wrote this one day when my son made the comment that sometimes you just have to pray that Kasal shows up. Then he explained the whole thing to me.

I went to the link and read after reading the poem.  Then I waited an hour or so and came back to read the poem again.  It's very powerful.

My son was in falujah when this happened.
He said "That guy is like a God over here."
He said if you are in trouble, just pray that Kasal shows up.
Then he told me about how nerve racking it was going door to door.
I put the two together and came up with this.
