                JESUS SMILE
                   By Billie Cullimore

           I've never seen a picture
           Of my Saviors Smiling face.
           I hope this does not mean
           There never was such grace.

           When He was a little boy
           At His mothers knee
           She may have said some things
           That filled His heart with glee.

           As a little lad in Bethlehem
           He must have had some chums
           Playing childrens games and such
           To laugh and have some fun.

           I've never seen a picture
           That shows Him with a smile.
           We see Him with loving eyes
           But, His face depicts the trials.

           How sad it must have been
           For Him to labor here,
           Trying to save the souls of man
           His Father holds so dear.

           I want to live my life as such
           As I walk the earthly miles
           And cross the veil to the other side
           That He will greet me with a smile.

A little rough in places but I liked it.

I think the topic is fairly original
and originality is the key. good job

Very beautiful! I am sure He gifts us with His smiles even now, maybe in dreams.
It is true that in traditional representations Jesus usually has a melancholic expression.

Funny, just the other day in the Chapel where I assisted to the Holy Mass, on the bench next to mine, I noticed a lady's booklet with a most beautiful cover: Jesus smiling like a superstar. I loved it! We need joy to walk our Path.

I very much enjoyed your poem.
