.

The sun rose
Over a blue sea
A strong young man
His first love still asleep
Under a summer sky

You didn’t
Give your name
At the front desk
Wanting it to be
A surprise

Yet I have known
For decades that you again
Would reappear one day
And this moment would be
An embarrassment for
The both of us  After all

We have very
Different memories
And perspectives on
Our past   What happiness
I’ve known and
I’ve known much with her
Had your not being here
At its core

The office lights
Shine on beautiful
Portraits looking on

A ship’s bell clock
With subtle hints
Ticking the hour

"We have very
Different memories
And perspectives on
Our past"
Seems to be the case, we each have personally selective memory banks.

Too often we don't realize that truth... until we're standing in that embarrassment. Beautiful write!
