The sun shattered, dark was the sky, ravens flew in feasting frenzy, shattered sky fell, cracking, the entire earth was shaken, What mortal beast was unleashed? the hunter of hearts, he would feast, on the move and prowl, roaming, clinching his teeth for another bite, The soul of the angel he wanted most, pure, lovely, white, illuminance , for she tasted the sweetest of them all, this the golden trophy of the highest. She was in harms way without a clue, innocent heart bleeds darkest black, his piercing fangs bit her deeply, plunging deep into her bosom, the earth became colorless, dead, darkest of night came, all living things, began to die, in fast decay and rot, as she lay white silken mist, Loves beast had come, to steal, more than a heart, but life, life of the loving, innocence, devoured selfishly in taking, Destroyer of hopes and dreams, sucking blood, bone, morrow, killer of inspiration, murderer of words, passion, desire. She became his eternal feast, why had her heart not been protected? simply, she loved, love, became the death of her, Angel of love quietly sleeps in peace, neither mortal, animal, spirit, nothing can harm her now, No more Dreams to write upon her brow, no more thoughts of being loved, sleep....sleep...quietly rest, your worries are no more..... With one last shallow breath, a blue tear fell from her dark eyes, slowly her pale lids shut, as the earth whispered...goodbye... goodbye....g-o-o-d-b-y-e. |

"love, became the death of her..." likely an all-too-familiar and timeless 'fate' of poets and incurable Romantics! interesting concept ... a 'beastly' thief of hearts! |

Loved this. Especially the fantasy motif. And that first picture is cool. |

To all who must know, this poem was written as a dedication to Suncleaver, for his lost love. The beast represents, addictions, drugs, love, whatever is controlling you in your life, And sometimes, though sad, in the end, the addiction wins....which is the beast! ~ARH |

The pain was too raw in my mind to reply at the time. But looking back, I can see the tenderness and compassion in A Romantic Heart's words. I cried a river, for her to swim, and now she stands with me in my arms. |

A lovely poem and thanks for the example. I have a number of poems written to photos, but it hadn't occurred to me to post them together. thanks Beauty can be found in all places, even within the darkness of the soul. |
