Scant Patches Of Green |

I do believe the snow has gone. Pops said this is the worst winter yet. Out the window, scant patches of green, but the trees are still naked with regret. I guess one can't help where they're planted. I'm quite sure after having limbs broken by the brutal Arkansas ice storm, some of those trees would rather be where the grass is greener and the sky is warm. Under life's heavy weight, we're all a bit slanted. Me, I pack a picnic up and make the most of the in-between, this time of mutual transition, enjoying the scant patches of green. |

I can relate Dixie. Those patches are all full of anticipation and hope. Yep, know what you're getting across here. The trees are such rugged solid things that they seem to be able to come back from such torture and keep on living renewing life. Probably a lesson for all of us in that. Eric |

You have written a most beautiful poem, dear Dixie! You managed to make me ponder about strength, endurance, hope and the ability to enjoy ourselves with what we have got. Love, Margherita |

I can relate, Dixie. Yesterday I was looking for the wire to the electronic dog fence and stepped into the snow. It was up to my hips. Now granted, I don't have very long legs - but, but (I sputter) isn't it spring yet? A |

most of us are, I'm afraid, (sadly) more than just a 'bit slanted(!)' well written!! |

"some of those trees would rather be where the grass is greener and the sky is warm. Under life's heavy weight, we're all a bit slanted." Very poignant words here, which I think we can all relate. Nice metaphor use. |

thanks all I'm glad you enjoyed my thoughts upon looking out on the trees that seem as if they, like me, are miserable here and are longing a change of the season. We all need change sometimes. |
