Crimson Sky

On volcanic rocks awash
under a black and crimson sky
we dance the tarantella
defy the wind
you and I.

The tide goes out in ebbing swells,
midnight breaks like crystal bells,
and we go back to our private hells.

I choke on fuming sulfur,
you dine on tea and frost

until the next storm rises
and we madly skip over lines
they tell us not to cross.

I won't get that music out of my head now,
Nan. I remember that piano piece...not an
easy one...

I'll have to go dig it out of the piano
bench, and see if it comes back to my
fingertips as well as it did my memory.

Yes indeed Nan this does evoke much emotion and contemplation too. Thanks for that.

"and we madly skip over lines

Aren't lines meant to be crossed? lol

Love the images and how they "skip" down the page!

Hi Pilgrim,

I enjoyed this.....not sure I understand it, but enjoyed it.

It could be that the latest storm has been danced around at all will return to normal until the next storm.

Curious. Sounds like you are in a position to suffer for those skipping the lines and your dance partner rather takes it all in stride, with his/her tea and frost.

I see, yes like children they skip over those lines. I wonder if sometimes those lines are the real walls and imaginary walls are what's needed to keep out the storms and off of lines.

Oh well, no matter really, either way.

Raw emotion makes for such grand poetry.

Really good reading, Pilgrimage~
