Bones at the Detention Center
doesn’t need anything.

He gets three meals a day,
and a place to sleep.

What more does a kid need.

He feels kind of lucky,
he knows a lot of kids
don't have that much.

He never hears from Mom
or anyone in the hood.

He doesn’t expect to hear
from anyone in the hood,
they have their own problems
to worry about.

Of course Mom
never did like him anyway.

Bobby

They say that if you don't have any expectations, you won't have any disappointments. HOWEVER, Bones is so complete within himself (even though he has been deprived), he has not a clue as to what he has been missing out on in his short life. This aches.

Thanks Yann,

Yes, those three meals a day are important to a guy like Bones.  Of course, jail is a horrible place.

Thanks for reading and your comment.

Thanks dear Linda,

What you say is very true.  Bones has no idea what it's like to be like the majority.  Bones only know his world.  Come to think of it, that's the way it is with most people.

it is painful, to so many this is a way of life, it's how every day goes. I know some kids like this, their parents are no parents that are any good. It does break my heart and I do my best to be there for them.

Thanks dear SEA,

Especially thanks for being there for those kids.  When I was growing up, I was raised by the whole neighborhood.  Mom was great, but she worked all the time.

They say you don't miss what you've never known... but I still ache for Bones.

Thanks dear Suthern,

Yes, that's what they say.  However, it's not always true.

I remember as a kid I was playing at a friends house, and I happened to meet his father.  I asked "who's that?".

He told me it was his father.  I liked the man.  That got me thinking, and wishing.  It was hard.

Thanks Secondhanddreampoet,

Yes it is reality for far too many.  It's something everyone should be concerned about.  In no way is it at all fair, and it can make a kid mean.

There is so much tragedy and truth in this well written piece of insight.

Thanks D.Lester Young,

For reading, and for your very kind comments on this poem.

Yes, it is both tragic and true for many of the "Bones" out there.

Oh Bobby I am disappointed, I thought Mom liked Bones.
I know she looked out after him.
Maybe it's just me.
Good to see Bones geting three square a day.

Take care

Thanks Eric,

No, Mom never really cared that much for Bones.  Mom was never the caring type.

Besides, Mom's got her self another new man.  That's her main concern at this point.
