Well I'm goin back to Ireland Cause I heard you were dyin Sittin on this lonesome plane Holdin back tears I been cryin Well I been cryin to the deep blue sky been prayin over you been cryin bout things I've done and the things we used to do. I'm goin back to the Emerald Isle Gonna throw my heart at your feet gonna squeeze my soul to deliver the penance left in me Back on the Emerald Isle I'll set you free..... I can see you in the bed By the balcony door Where I first touched you Changed us for evermore There's a doctor by your head Mother holding your hand They can't fix the pain in you The kind the heart can't mend I'm goin back to the Emerald Isle Gonna throw my heart at your feet gonna squeeze my soul to deliver the penance left in me Back on the Emerald Isle I'll set you free..... Ain't no man alive don't feel regrets Don't rearrange his dreams So I'm goin back to Ireland To share what's left of me I can recall the night we took a chance The night we vowed our love We were thinkin bout forever And the boilin in our blood I'm goin back to the Emerald Isle Gonna throw my heart at your feet gonna squeeze my soul to deliver the penance left in me Back on the Emerald Isle I'll set you free..... I'll tell you stories can't be bested Put a smile back on your face You'll say you knew I'd return We'll end up in the same place So I'm goin back to Ireland Hope you haven't turned to hate You've always been a part of me And I hope I'm not too late I'm goin back to the Emerald Isle Gonna throw my heart at your feet gonna squeeze my soul to deliver the penance left in me Back on the Emerald Isle I'll set you free..... |

Hi darling man, remember me? This is simply perfect writing, absolutely wonderful. I miss being able to pop in and out as the mood takes me. I do visit quietly now and then, sometimes I steal time from dictating an essay to place a reply. Too often I simply run out of even stolen time, and can't do much more than sip the dew of your golden words and bath my soul in wonder. Take care sweet man As always Mushy x x x x x x x Tomorrow is another day I don't know what it holds |

Dear Eric, this is so poignantly beautiful and I love the refrain. For those who are or were special in our lives, we do wish to have the opportunity to mend, to feel peace and to give peace. Wonderful song. Love, Margherita |

thats a very sweet poem. very sentimental, i got into it so well it was like i was there on the plane with you (or who ever was on the plane). i found it easy to relate to, which i think is a good thing. I think it also would make a nice song, with the repeating chorus. |

Eric, your poetry and lyrics are always so moving. I really feel them. "Ain't no man alive don't feel regrets Don't rearrange his dreams So I'm goin back to Ireland To share what's left of me" You are a balladeer of the finest order. Giving you a warm hug to help stave off the cold of our Canadian winter! Brrr! Linda |
