I watched the sun sink slowly, from the corner of my room And waited on the darkness to replace it soon The surrender of an open window, a chilling breeze slips in I shudder to consider, were we lovers to the end? In the distance a mother calling, to her children in the yard Through dying sounds of laughter, could it be that hard? So I’ll make another empty promise, to pacify myself Hearts are only weapons, when abandon on a shelf It doesn’t have to be this way That’s what you said I don’t have to walk away But that’s what you did A little more understanding Was a little less than enough While the sky fades red Nothing more was said I never had much of an understanding I confess it now, as if I’m planning Change don’t come easy, but I believe If we had it to do all over You’d say, A little more understanding… |

"It doesn’t have to be this way That’s what you said I don’t have to walk away But that’s what you did" this has such a painful ache to it... you've written this well |

Captured lonliness here very well. Great mood poem and the ending says it all. Eric |

Thoughts on this: Sometimes the hardest answers come far too late. Seems to me that "stubborn" is the theme to this one. But I might know...I have a streak of that along this backbone. Good to read you again! |

Robert - great write, liked the way you changed to the shorter sentences in the verses. Doing this did not change the meaning though. Nice write... BC |

Nice to read you again. Spellbound in the emotion, which your form here accentuated very well. Inspired me. |

Dear Robert, it's good to read you again. You offer us a very melancholic write, but I am sure many can relate to the intensely expressed emotions here. Love, Margherita |
