1x2=2 2x2=4 3x2=6 Standard smile in a standard fix Tiny fingers soothe sad bruised skin Sad soft eyes are sunken in, Fobidding the truth to escape. 123 who will sit with me when school begins? Uniform the same but never can With uncool tags and a hem that sags. An uncool smell and they all know... Wonder if the bruises show. Tiny fingers hopelessly smooth Crumpled cloth... ironing out the memories of the night. Who'll sit with me and use my name? Uncut lunch nearly looks the same. 4x2=8 Musnt't be home late, Mum needs me to witness her shame. Out the gate.First. First time today. Whatever did the teacher say? Wonder if dad's got his pay. Tiny fingers soothe tired bruised skin. Can that be him a-comin' in? |

Heavy burdens for this unfortunate child to bear. This poem evoked strong emotions in me. God bless and protect the children of this world. EA |
