Do you recall that bottle of Black Label We bought on our first date, a year ago? To me endearing as a childhood fable Of where your sacred heart is the chateau. Inebriating amber tones recall Your sweet complexion that excites me so, Your laughter - never failing to enthrall - And eyes that beamed on me with such warm glow. Now only half of its contents remain. I only open it when I’m with you; It’s now been months since you have come to claim The taste of sinful love, now overdue: Like love and lust, then linking you to me, The more consumed, the emptier it will be. |

Though I am far from mastering sonnets, I do love a good one and this one rises above being just good. The stressed/unstressed syllables are masterfully done and much admired. Your closing couplet is poetic gold. Truly enjoyed reading this one. |
