In the space between moments
Ominous skies of grey roll in upon the sultry breeze,
The thunder of two lovers' hearts rolls in the distance.
Eerie voices float through the darkened, velvety leaves,
As the night foreshadows the entrance of death's final dance.
Twisting fingers of flashing lightening weave through the sky,
As a cruelly broken heart turns cold with unstoppable rage.
Inflamed lightening now flashes, not within the heavens above, but within her emerald eyes,
When she discovers the truth from flowery words written on a silken page.
Her bitter tears flow onto his lover's graceful handwriting,
Washing away the hurt and destroying the love she had once so wholly felt.
Her soul now knew the real source of his cold blue eyes and endless fighting,
But she never suspected the icy blow that fate had dealt.
She now hides in the shadowed depths of her spinning mind,
Lost in an internal battle as her rage grows to a crimson height.
As he arrives home, she says not a word, preciously biding her time,
Watching, waiting, planning for the moment that is right.
His beautiful eyes close and he his enveloped in peaceful dreams,
He will never see the silvery glint of the knife in her shaking hands.
She knows that he must pay for his lying and heartless schemes,
So embedded within his writhing body the silver blade lands.
Thickened red flows in a drowning, choking flood of misery,
And she crumples to the cold, tiled floor in disbelief.
Through her tormented jealousy she did not see,
That she would not be able to survive in horrid grief.
The now blood drenched knife is raised one last time,
And with a couple of careless slashes the deal is done.
The stakes rose to new heights in an unfaithful love's crime,
For now two lives are lost, not just one.
..And down from the eternal heavens comes fate's jeweled fingertips, it's magic flowing into awaiting souls..--Krista Knutson
