Why is it that you look upon me, And yet somehow you do not see? Why is it that upon me you unmercifully smash down, And coldly look as away as I so cruelly start to drown? You see in my eyes only the hint of unshed tears, For I put up walls of stone, I refuse to show my fears. Why is it that from you great anger and hate flows, When with just a little faith grand love could grow? Why is it that you still choose to blindly believe, And you still think I am not who I appear to be? Somewhere within the hardness of your cobalt eyes, I see a flicker of compassion, and yet you choose to belive the lies. Why is it that here you stand, gazing upon my trembling face, Willing to destroy one who should be an equal member of the human race? Why is it that even though my fate is up to you, I cannot blame you for the awful thing you now plan to do? Perhaps the answer I seek lies hidden deep within, Perhaps the answer is that I did not let love die and hatred win. ------------------ *Krista Knutson* |

Another great poem! How do you do it? They flow well, and yet they are beautiful, true streams of beautiful words and feelings. Incredible job on all your poems. |
