Licked by the tongues of summer heat The day burns slowly into ashes As if a teardrop off the lashes A drop of ink falls on the sheet And I, as lonesome as that dot A single mark upon the page Sit locked inside an opened cage In endless space, can’t find my spot I search but do not see a reason Why in the emptiness of thought I cannot write a single word? Why being free I feel imprisoned ------------------ I fell in love and kept on falling |

I'm not sure if I know exactly how you were feeling as you wrote this, or what you think it's about. But, it was very good, and expressive. From one poet to another, if you keep writing poetry like this, you will be going places. Best of luck. And don't give up. |

Thanks Joy! Sometimes, I have a feeling that the people around don't understand me, that I'm different as if I'm a drop of ink on a white sheet of paper. And in a way, I don't understand them, and I have no one to communicate with. "In emptiness of thought I cannot write a single word" That's what the poem is about, although as you know true beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Thanks for your comments. |
