and that is a reality that is incomprehensible to me.

Love your people while you can.

Death sucks. I'll plant parslane around her marker, and keep the cross with a pink rose cherished, between towels, until we can have it made permanent, on her headstone.

I bought it 'cause it looked liked her--I wish I would have given it to her while she was alive.

(But then, we teased each other that way.)

Love your people while you can.

Death sucks.

If I had a wish that could be granted...
I would dissolve your pain...

or at least some of it. Because you know
very well that there are some pains
that ultimately make life sweeter...

So for now, I will offer my love, and hugs...

Just a few things:

"God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change..
Courage to change the things I can and
Wisdom to know the difference."

"I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one,
I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when day is done
I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun
Of happy memories that I leave behind when day is done."
~unknown

and lastly,

I love you very much Karen, you are a beautiful woman and I am so glad I have gotten to know you and I value our friendship.

It's difficult to even know what we're feeling at such a sad time.  There's  remorse, anger, disappointment, disbelief, frustration, despair, hope, etc. all sort of wrapped together. Like when the tears stream, missing her, at the same time you laugh recalling some funny happening.

You're in my prayers.  Please know faith and time will ease the pain.

Believing my losses are alive and happy in heaven, eases my aching heart.

Karen,
I know that kind of loss can't be fixed but know I care...

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

when they say "time heals"..it doesn't...but it does allow you to remember all the cute and touching ways you shared each other's life...and that does make the loss less painful...

I talk to my sister..she is always here with me...inside.

Hugs Karen..and by the way I made your picture smaller so I could enjoy the smile..will send it back to you.

The picture looks great, mo. Thank you...

I was wrong when I said I'd never see her again--I see her in smiles, all the time. (and well yes, if I squint a bit, I see her in the mirror a little bit)

Thanks all for allowing me my moment.

And the e mail from "yearpete" particularly touched my heart--wise and selfless words from someone who knows and understands how tender the pain is still.

And I guess I posted this looking for some comfort.

And it worked. thank you

Much love and gratitude to you all.

I think she was like, 36, in this pic. But she even made wrinkles look cute, in fact, I just told her so two weeks ago. As the family dusts off their scanners and such, I'm sure I'll have plenty more, and yes, more current ones as well.

But she was truly a beauty--inside and out.

Turn Again to Life

If I should die and leave you here a while,
be not like others sore undone,
who keep long vigil by the silent dust.
For my sake turn again to life and smile,
nerving thy heart and trembling hand
to do something to comfort other hearts than thine.
Complete these dear unfinished tasks of mine
and I perchance may therein comfort you.

Mary Lee Hall.

This was read at Princess Diana's funeral, I think it is beautiful.
I am very sorry for your loss.

I have a sister who I've been estranged from for years.
Today...is her birthday.
I sent her a card, interrupting my previous course of "pretending she didn't exist".
And I did so, because of you, K.  And Cathy.
Just a little thing, but I wanted to tell you.

It's the big things, Dunc, that
bring the little things about.
Cathy is very proud of what you did...

as is serenity.
