“Babies are the way men chain women to their pain.” “You know you have to think about these things because you’re not that pretty.” These were comments each by a different parent heard by a different woman when a child, (in the first the woman was the first born). From whose mouth, Father’s or Mother’s, would such comments be most influential to a girl? |

The first comment should come from the father, I think, to be more influential. The second comment should not be said at all, I feel, because it does not need to be. Hope my comments do not offend. That first comment kind of bothers me, too. I think that it is true sometimes, especially in some cultures, third world countries or the Middle East, maybe, but for the most part, for a woman, having a baby is the miracle of her life and that should be added to the comment if spoken....jo |

Both comments are quotes related to me by two women who had heard them made to them by their own mothers. In the first the woman was the first born of the mother in question. In the movie The Crow there was an extraordinary comment made that: “Mother is another name for God for little boys and girls.” I don’t believe that true for boys. |

Interesting quotes...all too often women come off 2nd class in cultures other than ours and even here at times. I wish women were valued, not as equals in the regard we should be identical to men, but in a way that compliments---creating an atmosphere that encourages equilibrium for individuals as well as society. |

Perhaps that is the gift the Di Vinci Code has given us...I don't nor will I ever believe that Women were created to be underclassmen? |
