Two hundred and sixteen years ago Thomas Jefferson aptly described what Passions has meant to me. How could he know? Go figure...

“When heaven has taken from us some object of our love, how sweet is it to have a bosom whereon to recline our heads, and into which we may pour the torrent of our tears! Grief, with such a comfort, is almost a luxury!”

Thomas Jefferson to Maria Cosway
“Dialogue Between the Head and the Heart”
October 12, 1786

Show you care to those you love...today.

that's so true...

the love of my life lives in Canada, a gazillion kilometres away from where i live, so i really couldnt show him much, 'cept what words can show.

thanks for sharing this

could the darkness be my friend?

In reading, we learn to share.
Thank you Larry...

That is an amazing quote Larry ... precious in it's depiction of how closely you and many of us relate to the comfort and camaraderie we feel here. I do hope Ron sees this ... because it just gives me a chance to say "thanks" again for this wonderful home.

And time only proves it to be true still. Thanks Ron for just such a place.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

I agree 100%.  I see this originally was posted in 2002, two months before my youngest son was killed.  Rebecca (Whtdove) found such comfort here as she mourned the loss of her closest sibling.  In 2004, when she got cancer, she again found comfort in the caring friends on these blue pages, and when God took her home in 2005, I learned for myself how much the care of fellow PIPsters mattered.

How grateful I am for Ron and each of you.

Circles only widen,
taking more in, and
finding ways to give more
of ourselves.

Amazing, what five years
reveals...
