Am I just plain crazy or are people supposed to walk on the left and right of sidewalks and when they pass each other have the darn courtesy to move!  I swear I have the worst case of "Walk Rage" and it is like now I can't wait for someone to be in the wrong lane LOL, so I can pick.  The world around me is at war, and here I am worrying about what lane someone walks in, but SHEESH, it ticks me!  In Vancouver there are a lot of people walking so I get ticked a lot.

Igh... come to my school. We have twice the number of students than there is room for, and our halls are tiny as it is... That, and all the grade eights stand in big circles, taking up all the space right across the hall, so that its impassable... grr...

Well sheesh, I thought the people closest to the road are going that way(south), and if I am on the inside I am going this way(north), unless of course I am going the other way (east), then they should be in the other lane, which is (west), but oh no, they go in the middle blocking the lanes, got it now Chris?   LOL

And yes Nan I do need a holiday and can't wait to get to your place, and I am just praying people on the other side of North American know "the rules" of the sidewalk and I will be one happy camper

AHAHAHA!!!! That's why I was so glad to get away from the Coast!!! Chilliwack is just as bad as Vancouver!! I just walk with my hands on my hips and elbow people out of the way. No, I'm kidding!! I don't do that. But I always thought there was "walk lanes" too... *shrugs*

I want to die peacefully, in my sleep, like my grandfather, not screaming, terrified, like his passengers.

AHAH!  So, it is a British Columbia trait then?  I shall remember that when Chilliwack.  I got it, well I will tell you when I get back from this holiday if they do it on the Atlantic Coast, and if not, I too, shall walk with hands on hips and elbows out, and CHARGE, and I mean it!  LOL, it drives me insane I tell you!

you know... i've always wondered why people put up signs to keep others off the grass... i mean, that's kinda what it's there for, right? to walk on? if you think about it, we didn't blemish everythign with concrete and tar until relatively recently.

as to walk lanes... bah. lol sorry, don't buy it. i don't think you should plow into someone, but the sidewalk IS for walking, and the ones i use don't have dividers. LOL...

Chris, they put up "do not walk on the grass" because fairies live there didn't you know that they sleep during the day in the grass then move to the gardens at night?  Sheesh!  Besides, I just like complaining about the sidewalks, and I haven't started to take a can of paint and a brush yet, but I am seriously thinking about it if one more person plows into me!  I do watch where I am going (you were going to say that right?) LOL.

Boy, am I glad you didn't ask me to vote on this one. Is there a 'right' or 'wrong' side??? I guess I try to zig when someone else goes zag...but I usually go to the right, simply because driving on the right is "right" in the USA. But in England, do the Brits go left? LOL, I'm lucky to go up and down on/off the sidewalk with the flow...never even thinking about left or right...except politically, I guess I am usually more to the left. Come to think of it, I'm usually not even on the same sidewalk!! LOL. Can you tell I had three glasses of wine tonight?

WOW....Sharon has a sidewalk in her town.. ...in my place, we walkers always weave in & out of traffic along with 2, 3 and 4 wheelers, and at times, share the road with few stray 4 legged ones too...

LOL ... have you ever seen the music video for Bittersweet Symphony by a group called The Verve?  It's a guy walking down the sidewalk focussed straight ahead, walking over cars and banging into people as he walks in a completely straight line oblivious to all, singing:

"No change, I can't change, I can't change, I can't change, but I'm here in my mode, I am here in my mode."

It's my favorite song (and video). Now I'm going to picture Sharon on the sidewalk each time I see it, lol.

Well Kit after seeing that reply I tried it this morning, yup, I walked straight in the middle of the sidewalk!  That guy was brilliant and to think I have gone through years going "grrrrrr" when this was all I had to do, but the look on my face told them "don't even go there with me", and it worked!  I made it 18 blocks on a "main" sidewalk without one person bumping into me, or me moving.  Think the football uniform had anything to do with it kidding of course about the uniform, but not the rest, and I am so excited and can not wait to go walking again tomorrow.  Thanks for the tip.  he he, it works, can't believe it.
