Dear Ann Now that I’ve passed From ape to saint At the speed of a bullet Through my head The nation is unwilling to believe I could have married a woman I didn’t love Somehow it wants to think You were too slight and I too strong To allow my heart to go along To keep you company in the night I hope you’ve kept it near your own I tried to do as would honor you And now the trial is done Please light the path And call my name I am finally coming home Oh Ann Just to dwell on that Makes me unafraid How I’ve missed you All this time Love Abe |
