The Lone Hawk Flies

sky holds fast this wintry color
not the brightest of the blues
less then of the summer clouds
less more the thought of you

and sound travels on drier air
from the coming of somewhere
here to my outward senses
shivering the core of my spine

in the lonesome high flung screech
the Lone Hawk flies above
searching…
     searching….
all the while, most high on high

traverse this small rise with me
through drought of summer past
footsteps crunch the brittle grass
what little there was is gone

stand here where the spirit stands
poised where grace once then stood
now into the valley gaze with me
far off into the copse of wood

dips Lone Hawk, in his flight
searching…
      searching….
stretched wing glints
in shaft of light

in the screech of his call
vision of bison in lost of fall
perceivable home of ghosts now gone
lend me thought to travel on

and I would take
the Lone Hawk's flight
all that's left
of the spirit's plight

and I will take thee with me
and fade into the night

If I whisper, will you listen?...
I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound.

No, Doreen, I did not know the title would catch your eye, but I am pleased it did...you will have to explain some time...

Sven, a little imagination...works wonders...

Sy...I love to watch the red-tailed hawk...thank you...
