Back when all I knew
Was Belefonte's Jamaica Farewell
I made a trip on an airborne ship
And when I reached Jamaica
I made a stop

Montego bay was a delight by day
But its nights were heaven I confess
Scents of flowers in the air
Watching sunsets bathed in the moon's largesse

Floating snorkled at the Doctor's cave
Watching fish and sea life swimming by
Laying in the sun on a sandy beach
Think there's no place I'd rather die

Flowered prints and gorgeous tans
Fruits you'll not find anywhere else
Coffee mornings, rum laced nights
Skye dancing under torches to raise your pulse

Driving off to Ocho Rios
Little towns and donkeys run
Luncheon by a waterfall
Night dark roads where ferns hide the sun

Climbing up Dunn's River Falls
Laughing in wet bathing suits
Watching phosphorescent life in bays
Mangos, papayas, uglies and other fruits

Floating, rafting on the San Antone
Watching stars cross an ink black sky
Ever close to just hold you
Loving the star's shine in your eyes

Jamaica, where the rum is cheap
Bitter lemon costs much more
Lobster isn't very dear
Rooms and steaks cost galore

Laughter, flowers in your hair
Sun-tanned love and fragrant air
Walking beaches without a care
I must confess my dreams go there

~You have to have a dream so you can get up in the morning.

Wow, oh wow, Bill!
It makes me want to hop on a plane right now!
You painted such a picture of serenity and beauty, it actually made me take a deep breath and slump back in my chair.
Great poem, Bill.  I truly enjoyed it!

MAM-
TY - The north shore has so many wonderful attractions - but it has been years since I was there - still - I'd like to believe it is still as romantic as I remember.

James-
TY - I could do a Paris one too - sadly I missed much of what I wanted to see there ~S~

Victoria-
TY - bermuda is high on my list of placesI want to go to - thanks for the reminder~S~

Martie-
TY - save me a seat ~S~

Trew-
TY - I only hope it is half as pleasant as my ancient memories

right now I couldn't afford the trip myself -
But I'm sure you'd enjoy the trip

I'm so happy that "Sun Kissed Nights" inspired you Wilfred.
You've done well, and remember Jamaica well.
It is a beautiful place, isn't it?

Doctors Cave....Negril?

I included a photo for you, hope you enjoy.

Sheri- I can't 'see' the picture you posted but I do remember Negril - none of the big facilities were there when I was ('68) - but I really was amazed at how nice the 'city beach' of Montego bay (Doctor's care) was.

you brought back a beautiful memory thank you
