In distant memories
I recall the zippering
Of one pieced footed pajamas
The warmest of my little bed
The caring hands that tucked in the covers
About my neck
The words "Good Night"
The drifting off to sleep
The shortness of the night
The awaking to morning light
Still there in my little bed
Still loved

Now
It is my turn to prepare
You for your bed
As I guide a
A frail frame
Dimming eyes and toddling feet
To an awaiting bed
Tucking you beneath
Flannel sheets and comforter

Good night Daddy
May you rest in peace
Knowing you're still loved

Worthy of anyone's book, Songbird.  Your daddy is as lucky to have you as you were to have him.  Love, Joyce

It's only right, fair, and loving
to give back, even if just a little,
of what was given us.

This is lovely, Songbird. *s

Wow, I love this poem.

What extraordinary sentimental value does your poem hold for all who will read. A must for the anthology... And also a most perfect poem to begin my night of gentle rest. Thank you, good night, and God bless.
