I remember sitting in my screened-in porch, our porch, like we did so many other winter days. The days it was too beautiful to stay inside, but too cold to play outside.  My friend and I spent the whole day together, we always did.  Whether we were at her house or mine, we never seperated.  That day we imagined we were spies, sneaking up on my older siblings and listening to their phone calls.  We made a game of who could get the closest to them and not be seen, only, no one ever won.  We were constantly at battle with each other: who could jump farther, climb higher, scream louder, run faster. Again, no one won, it was always friendly combat.  We, Becca and I, were sisters, maybe not by blood, but in every other way.  Even after I moved away from her, I stayed in touch, better than I do with some of my real sisters.  A couple of years ago I went back to visit her and after seven years we still are just alike.  We poured ourselves a cup of soda, and at the same time dipped our fingers in the fizz to make it disappear, like we had done years before.  At that moment I knew that we would always be this way, no matter how many miles between us.  After all, we were sisters.

Some great thoughts here, some of our best friends can feel just like family, sometimes we even look alike lol.  Good writing.

dear pharon,

this is so touching    many of my dearest friends have been those i've maintained contact with over long distances.  *sigh* sometimes even the ones that live, breathe, and sleep only a few feet from me seem farther away than my geographically distant friends.  this story touched my heart   thank you

sincerely,
the beautiful freak

Yes, afterall you are sisters.  I hope nothing breaks that bond.  It is really something special to have.

A beautiful bond and a beautiful piece of prose. This really touched my heart.

Love and hugs,
