When all the words she needs to say are said
And all those things that seal goodbye are done
A clock that’s ticking slowly in her head
Will signal new day’s dawn and rising sun

It’s then she’ll take the shroud of darkest night
And put on colours bathed in morning light
It’s then she’ll rise to greet this warming sun
And tell herself it’s over - it is done

She’ll take up all the shredded pain he gave
And make a dress with victory sewn in seams
Then she’ll cast off the dirt from her old grave
Not be afraid to love or share her dreams

She’ll dance flamenco to a driving beat
And feel her body rise to passion’s heat
She’ll fling her strength into this new affray
And be prepared for all that comes her way

The world has done its worst and now she’s free
She’s beaten all the odds and come out strong
She hums an ancient song of victory
And knows that nothing now will stop her song

A poet must leave traces of his passing not proof.

Kethry, I have read this several times and I like the phoenix feel of it. Actually I came to two different views of her experience which made it so interesting.

And make a dress with victory sewn in seams

Not just terrific... triumphant!!! May her melody grow ever stronger... this is fantastic!

Freedom is a song at your feet... enjoy the dance. I particularly liked that third stanza. Well done.

nothing like victory poetry to make one applaud. I applaud you, Keth

She'll take up all the shredded pain he gave
And make a dress with victory sewn in seams

Now THAT'S poetry!

Thanks everyone. I think I've been away from all this positive re-inforcement for too long. I appreciate all the kind words.
