There you stood, leaning against
the sunlit rock face,
soft hands pressed to stone
and I only prayed
I could be as steadfast,
unwavering, unmovable;
but then - stone does not weep,
nor quake in passion’s thrall...

Oh, how transient we are!
we vanish, the stone remains —
yet the words will forever echo
amidst the granite cliffs —
“I love you, I love you....”
