You enter
   into thoughts
       unwanted

slipping past yesterday
into today,

forcing yourself

         uninvited

you were then
and remain now..

   I swore I would forget
            that pain
                 somehow.

Eyes shut
clenching tight,
I hear the silent screams

   and begging

           no

please...
don't say     those words
before you go.

Even after
all of these years
I tremble
through smiles
trying to hide
       those tears.

An unwelcome visit
leaves me now

as it did then...

Void.

I really want to care,
I want to feel something,
let me dig a little deeper
nah, still nothing~
my give a DAMN is busted. Jodee

I do believe I understand. Many a time I  thought I had washed my 'was'band right outta my hair, but it took many rinses before I got the lustre and sheen back ~ and now my hair is silky, fresh,  and free like that of a model in a Panteen commercial!

Keep rinsing! ~ and shine on!

Donna, you really have grown into your own as a person ~ and as a poet.

Hugs with love,
Linda

Some wounds sustained
cut deeper than others
and we heal
and we move past it
but scars are scars
they make up a part
of who we are

they never go away

Thanks all, and hugs.

isn't it weird, how we dismiss all those miraculous times, for one bought of pain, and the pain is all we remember...but want to forget...perhaps, it's the fear driving in the back seat with us...but if we know no fear...then, perhaps we'd realize, no pain, no gain?

Tremendous write, just look at the thoughts yo sparked!

Smiles and hugs

Hello sweet lady...
remember those scars help to make us who we are today.
A little more compassionate and a whole lot stronger.
I know this feeling..have been there and lived through it.
Heart hugs to you dear one.

For it was not into my ear you whispered
But into my heart
It was not my lips you kissed
But my soul

hard to close the door even if we want to, when the heart speaks of times past good or bad
keep writing, the hauntings will escape that way

Passionate!  Truly passionate.  Fight those demons and don't let them back in!  You are strong and whoever (or whatever) this poem is a message to, I hope it is loud and clear!

Well done...

Ghosts have a way of revisiting, you have described your feelings of that here in a very good poetical manner....
