A
year ago
this morning,
the crew aboard
the Columbia space
shuttle, were starting their
descent back to earth.

Although they never made it.
Their memory will always live on,
in the hearts and minds of anybody who
ever had a dream, and the indomitable
courage, to pursue it.

I wrote this poem,
on that saddest of days...

One Blue Sky Morning

They shot across, one blue sky morning
seven souls that fell from space
They lost their lives without a warning
forever now, held in God’s grace

They didn’t ask to be our heroes
They didn’t want to die in flames
They didn’t want to be ground zero
We mustn’t let them die in vain

A shooting star, drifts down from heaven
Hurling down to it’s demise
Seven mortals, are descending
Seven souls, are on the rise

We watched them all descend in horror
Holding them in our embrace
They landed in a world of sorrow
Spirits of our human race

They didn’t ask to be our heroes
They didn’t want to die in flames
They didn’t want to be ground zero
We mustn’t let them die in vain

So when you see a new day dawning
Or watch stars shoot by at night
Please remember that blue morning,
when we cried and held them tight

Their journeys brought them close to heaven
Their sacrifices took them there
Their legacy of hope and spirit
is a gift we all can share

(big angel hugs) Oh Richy, it is so very tragic and I can't even only begin to imagine how the men up there felt when they knew they wouldn't make it down alive, thinking of their families! (wipes tears) My heart goes out to all their families, sweet friend, you have a most loving and caring heart, we will remember, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Richy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

And yet another intensely emotional and exceptionally beautiful piece of art honoring true heroes. You are amazing. Thank you for this write and for reminding us.
