this is dedicated to James a boy i know. who is currently in hospital.

His daily diet of food and tears
The only shield against his fears
He withdraws to dwell deep inside
Too deeply embarassed to confide

He bravely sets out to face another day
Scared to venture at what they'll say
Hating himselffor being what they percieve
A worthless fat boy ?he can now believe.

Regretting the comfort of last nights need,
that caused him to wallow in another feed
Just eleven and alreadyscarred too much
Cruelty has beaten him with many a touch

His needs are invisible, his smiles manufactured
Dwelling alone in his room, his spirit fractured
The boy is failing in a world that doesn't care
At only twelve, I ask, will he still be there ?

This is very prominent at the moment. Overweight children are bullied at school causing great distress. A very good write June. Maggie

James is a beautiful boy and it breaks my heart to know he can't bare anymore torment.
I feel so helpless.

good luck to him and you.
its heartbreaking to hear about this, but i have faith that everything will pull through, he just needs the comfort you obviously are giving him. do you agree? its unbelievable how cruel some children are to those different from themselves.

this is a beautiful poem. heart breaking and tearful.

Tell him taht this torment will pass for me huh? I know how it feels to be overweight, i used to be myself, and i still think i am. I try not to care or think about it.
