I know...
You ask why?  Why did you know?

I answer...
I have seen, I have felt, I have hurt,
I have fallen....I have risen yet again.
I knew...

A tear...
Falls from the cheek, upon the earth
as does the rain that cleanses.
Drowning sorrows and fear.
I have felt these drops, I have shed
these drops, I have tasted the brine
of life’s hurts.....many times.

You know....
That I would give this soul, and all
that one can put into the book of
our lives, pictures of the smiles,
of the trials, the agony...
our destinies...

You are...
A treasure, a wealth of gold to one who has
held the riches of the world.  To one who
stands and says they have it all.

Yet...
The grasp is empty, the glass dry.  The
vines of life parched and withered.
And...though the blossom’s petals fall,
though the nectar no longer comes to
the bee....I stand, I know,   I feel...
as each day comes to pass....

As we know....together...
and we knew....
that I know...

A strong sense of empathy in this one...  gives me the impression of a person with a very warm heart.

My goodness, Barry, you certainly do capture my attention with your poetry. It's so real and so truthful, yet written with such elegance. You are a very talented poet, dear Sir...but I think I've mentioned that several times, haven't I? Anyway, I feel it's worth repeating.
Thanks so much, friend, for sharing your heart with us.

What the others have said.
How you have matured...
at whatever cost, you have paid the price
and the name Poet suits you
very well.

(sigh) Yes, you know, and that is what makes you a man of empathy and one who can relate to so many and touch so many of our hearts! (big hugggssssss) You hear it through the grapevine, you hear it all, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Barry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Cool poem.. I really enjoyed the read.. Thanks for sharing.

I wish to become a great poet some day, but it will only come in time. Til then, I shall write my poems, and wait.

I can identify with the emotions here. Loved this stanza:

"You know....
That I would give this soul, and all
that one can put into the book of
our lives, pictures of the smiles,
of the trials, the agony...
our destinies..."
