I remember growing up
With you always by my side
I remember the horrible accident
And the saddened day you died
I remember the laughs
You gave to me each day
The smiles in your thoughts
In each word you would say
I remember my dream
You entered one night
Holding my daughter close
While following the light
I remember you like yesturday
And all the memories that flow
It tore my life apart
When it was time for you to go
You gave me so much
In the short time you were here
I remember you like yesturday
Yet I am scared, I do have a fear
Will there be a time
That you will fade away?
Will I lose you in my thoughts?
Lose track of you one day?

Just a few thoughts about a special person that died 13 years ago.

No person is worth your tears, and the only one that is ...... will never make you cry

I think when we loose someone close.. they become a part of us.  Sometimes buried down deep but always there.  I had someone close to me die 8 years ago.  I think of him most everyday... i keep him alive in my memory.

A good treatment of this problem, Dark.  Be glad for the memories, we don't all have good ones to remember.  But it all fades and if it didn't we might not be able to go on.
Create some memories for your family that will echo your own.

Beautiful and sad.
Concerning your fear of fading memory.
Why should it happen, if it hasn't done so over all those years?
Also- maybe you'd wish, that the memory could be less intense, so your life would be more under your control.
My experience is, that if precious memory fades, that it has done its 'job' and you are released into a new dimension, which is not negligence but rather cutting the cord with appreciation for what you have learnt.
Thanks, Bee.

How well I know this feeling - and I've dealt with many memories....it's hard when they are still fresh enough to hurt, but later they will become small warm pebbles that you can hold and enjoy. (I have warm ones that are more than 50 years old - trust me!)  You don't ever lose the memories you want to keep.
This poem is a beauty - I love it!
