She Sleeps

She sleeps in tender sweet repose
With breath as fragrant as a rose
So peaceful is her slumbering face
With head in pillows deep embrace

Her hair is captured by the moon
In opal light of glowing room
And she is still as shadows creep
In blankets comfort wrapped in sleep

What wondrous dreams consume her head
Contentment’s smile in angel’s bed
He wonders if she dreams of him
Caressing her in morning’s dim

He dare not wake her silent bliss
So rare a moment’s peace as this
Oh, how he’d like to hold touch her face
And hold her tight in his embrace

But not this time, for she will wake
And then recall his tragic fate
So he just hovers o’er her face
And soothes her flesh in sheets of lace

For if she wakes, her heart will weep
And she’s content within her sleep

Starts out tender and sweet, with a sharp twist of sadness at the end.

Great work, as always.

Liz-
such a silent sadness within these
   beautiful and tender words...

'She sleeps in tender sweet repose
With breath as fragrant as a rose
So peaceful is her slumbering face
With head in pillows deep embrace'

'He dare not wake her silent bliss
So rare a moment’s peace as this
Oh, how he’d like to hold touch her face
And hold her tight in his embrace'

this truly touched my heart, my friend.

   hugs,
   -vicky

Lady Santos, this should have come with a tissue warning....

this is rare love...rare, and indeed, magical...

so I shall put it away, safely, to reside forever as a favorite...

I know I commented on this yesterday! (looking baffled) Is the server trying to make me lose what's left of my marbles? LOL. Doesn't it know I don't need the help?

As I said yesterday (I think *G*) Elizabeth, this poem is wonderful. *S* It's so tender and sad and brimful of love... beautiful!
