Silence of the Yams

Tis hardly worth mentioning
but still the words must be said
Awake I lay til crack of dawn
then I sat up in bed

I forgot to make the yams
to accompany our family feast
the can still sits upon the shelf
between green beans and yeast

The marshmallow adornment
was used for krispie squares
I really do apologize
if anyone still cares.

No one said a word to me
that something was awry
and suddenly in dark of night
I knew the reason why

Perhaps no one really liked
the yams I prepare each year
Maybe they always ate them
out of love or out of fear

Next year I’ll test my theory
amid Thanksgiving plans
Then I will know for sure if
there’s silence of the yams.

I saw this title and I said, "dear lord!" hehe kinda cute though.  but don't worry, if I was a relative, I'd tell it to ya straight.  err well I'd recommend that I should be the one to cook them at least, and if I "forgot" to cook them, oops.  ;P~~~  I'll blame it on the holiday rush.  hehe actually, I'll be honest and say I've never had any before that I can recall.  but then again I usually don't pay attention to what I'm eating cause it all ends up in the same spot anyways.  with the same reaction of course.  hehe  wonderful poem, great holiday humor, and please pass the err... nevermind,  you didn't make them this year.  ;P

We had yams, but my sister-in-law didn't have any cranberry sauce. No, I didn't say a word.

You made my day!  There's someone on this earth a lot like me!!!  I mean, finding something you forgot to serve AFTER everyone's gone home AND writing about it in a corny rhyme.

I so terribly enjoyed this, it's the kind of thing I'd write, but not nearly so well, me thinks!

Well a holiday without Yams? That's cool by me. Matter of fact my mother-in-law just gave me 2 BIG things of them, and well, this is what I think of Yams...

I HATE YAMS!!!

But I know how you feel. My mom handed the cooking over to me this year, and I COULD NOT FIND THE GRAVY! I didn't notice until my dad asked me to pass it to him! Oh well...
This was really cute!
