Saying My Prayers

As slumber slips nearer my languishing form
What shall I,  in silence,  request?
I cannot but help now gaze on toward morn
with a prayer of poetic behest

For a rhapsodist, gentle, with kind healing hands
to cradle me, small, while I doze
dusting, drowsy, my eyes, with his soft sleeping sands
stilling night full of fitful repose

As I lie in the linens and coolness of down,
wrapped in white cotton coverlet's lace
I imagine his sonnets, hear his rhyme falling 'round
though not yet can I fathom his face.

Dear LadyClaire

The poet and spirit come round her bed
Filling the air with words from his head
Leading her mind to the dream world
While all the while on her bed she reamins curled. . .

Claire, this was an excellent poem. . . would that we all could have that poet speak to us in our dreams. . . I feel that you have. . .

Sven, your poetic reply is something of a prayer answered, in itself. Thank you, in earnest, for sharing your words...

Rex, oh hush! Hope you liked this one.

Liz...so kind you are in your comments...thank you. (Still loving your "Artist" pieces from last night...)

Jeffrey...I am glad you found something to like here. It is always lovely to at least have a dream, to my way of thinking. Thank you for reading this.

Claire - another masterpiece, my friend!  May you always find this gentle poet, to cradle you gently through the night.  I know that I have taken many of the poets here to bed with me (in a purely chaste sense of course - I took their POETRY to bed with me)  Okay, all you dirty-minded people, quit yer drooling!
Excellent work, Claire - keep up the good work!

A beautiful poem, Meadow. I think that everyone has done this before... great job.
