Breadth

I just never knew
how much space
there was,
between yes
and no.

You forgot to tell me that,
the other day when your
words carved their initials
into me,
as your name rose
from my skin.

This headroom
between sigh and sudden,
the lyric,
a thought unwhispered,
ashes of water,
this silenced thunder
throughout the quill
and still,
of quiver asunder
as your hair cried soft
in the blush
of my mouth.

No,
there just isn’t
enough distance
between seconds
and length,
to span the lastingness
of embrace
that I see
when the corners
of your mouth
reach up, to
fondle your cheeks.

Not when I’ve
yet to tell you
that your eyes,
taste like honesty
and your lips
drip like rain
on that twilight of seed,
in the thrust
of eventide.

Or that,
on this sure gloaming of
afterlight’s dream,
when the eternity
that is your mouth
is on mine,
I finally know what,
home feels like
as tongues make way
and slip into the serum
of each other’s salvation.

Your arms
like French doors
flung agape
as I swing them wide open
to enter you
to feel the softness
of walls tight
pulling
and collapsing
onto me
undulating,
as coupled flesh
is awash
in root and bloom.

I just need more time
to tell you
that you are the end
to my sentence,
before I even think it.

And that I am
the tight cork
that holds back
and releases,
the sweet wine,
in your glistening
carafe

You are the pictures
I’ve yet to tell,
the songs, I’ve yet
to feel,

you’re the smile
upon my breath
and I’m the glow
upon your skin.

Yes,
there is a lot of space
between yes and no.

Sometimes,
that distance can include,
whole lifetimes.

Good gosh, it's in here!!!

As for "critiques"...when you post this warm
toasty in the future, you might possibly want to lose a few commas...but that's all I can sigh, er, think of, now.

This makes me sad about all the things that never were....
Yet, you still manage to make the feeling beautiful.

Lol Karilea! Thanks so much for the funny comment. Sorry 'bout the heat.

Thank you Bluesy. How nice it is to hear from, once again.
