in the shadows

.

In these late silly still hours
of uncertainty,
my soul is free
to be at peace
wrapped sheltering
around your sleeping mind,
never feeling me near
as your day takes shape
and time reforms
along the norms humans need
to stay safely back
from the edge of fear,
in linear chronology
reality reliably seems to be
more predictable
than its chaotic truth,
and when you wake
I will return to sleep,
the promise I keep,
as you sort through
wardrobe choices for your day,
by breakfast time
my crazy rhymes
are left behind
and you are standing tall,
and walking free.

as ... day takes shape
and time reforms
along the norms humans need
to stay safely back
from the edge of fear,

something one has to do to survive

nice writing

Got to echo that one, icebox.  Enjoyed as always!

The voice from a Shakespearean play kept playing in my ears reading the words to me...I love the way this poem made me feel and hear in such a beautiful way...*Big Hugs*

Oh, I really liked the reforms/norms play.  The whole thing is nicely done.

*Smile* Thank you for sharing this lullaby of soul, Mr. C; there is such comfort in your not-so-crazy rhymes.   .....jo

I wish I knew if anyone was, wrapped sheltering around my sleeping mind. Maybe I could sleep more soundly knowing that I was cared for that much. Charlie,I love your mind, and look forward to reading everything you write. martyjo

sort through your wardrobe choices...

and is it really okay to rhyme, and rhyme looks so much better on YOU.

*laughing*

I guess nobody told you that rhymes are sooooooooooooooo not poetry.

You wear them well my sweet, ever watchful, most observant friend.

yer beautiful

Icebox

A song came to me when I started to read this....Unsure of lyrics but here goes...In the cool hours and minutes of uncertainty I long to be in the warm hold of your loving mind?  Can't remember who or more, just the tune, but the song played while I was reading.

Your poem touched me.

Profound truth...which I've come to expect from your words.
