Kansas should have taught me better
not to take life for granted,
to just go with the flow and know
things wouldn't change by how I ranted.

I should know by now that poetry
doesn't just come all on its own,
because a poet once a poet
can't be a poet if alone.

But all I know is I miss you.
Taking stuff for granted is my style.
So maybe I should go back
to Kansas and stay awhile.

Nicely done. The sorrow of a past goodbye could script a thousand lines.

A poet is a poet is a poet ... always, as you demonstrate so well.

No, it's never the same when we go back, I agree.

You never lack inspiration, dear Dixie. Even if you look at what the moment holds, which can be much better too.

Love and hugs.

Dixie girl, you are one fine poet and it's true, one should never look back with regret only look forward with promise... RDB
