A Love So Rare

I came upon her in the fall,
An unassuming innocent.
She smelled of jasmine from the spring,
As though it followed where she went.
A beauty, yes--both thin and tall--
With honey blonde to frame her face.
She walked unnerved by anything,
The very archetype of grace.

And how a girl of tender years
Could know my pain from times gone by,
Is such a wonder to behold
That wise men shake their heads and sigh.
So suddenly my grief and tears
Are soothed beneath her loving hand,
That ages hence when tales are told,
Her story will the crowd demand.

And so I chart a course for love
--Ignoring fears of gales and night--
And set my sails for magic climes,
A beacon for my fateful flight.
As God himself from up above
Seems lovingly to fill my sails,
I dream of milk and honey times
Where doubt is lost and love prevails.

And, Oh!  What dreams may teach us all!
When chancing love we bare our soul,
To find that one whose heart is pure
When passion's thrall exerts its pull.
And so I smile and heed the call
That leads me down the path to bliss.
Enveloped in the aching need
Of swelling heart and telling kiss.

Now all my days are spent in peace,
As side by side my love and I
Will prove our happiness to each
With many a contented sigh.
We lay ourselves on softest fleece
--Two souls as one, without a care--
To celebrate what none can teach
And consummate our love so rare.

Pinky: Gee, Brain, what are we going to do tonight?
Brain: The same thing we do every night, Pinky: try to take over the world!

Thanks, Shadows!

I couldn't sleep.

As it so often happens, I am most inspired when the world is dark and others sleep.

Thanks for the nice comment!

Thanks, TD.

It is an innocent about whom I am writing.  Alas, the "who" must remain a secret--for now!

Ooooh!  How mysterious!

Hi, Nancy.

Youthful love is wonderful to remember and even nicer to experience but, sadly, I am way past my days of youth!

I am a child at heart, but that doesn't count I have found.

John~

'I am most inspired when the world is dark and others sleep.'

This thought is, in itself, poetically inspiring~

May I ?

OF COURSE I CAN~

Love such as this keeps, though age and distance yearn to forget...and your writing captured it.  Beautiful!

Hi, Marge.

As always, your creative side springs to life!  I thought that your poem was very cute!

Thanks for calling me an "inspiration."  I haven't heard that one before!

Thanks, Martie.

Your response was very nice, and not a little bit poetic itself!

You've not begun to catch your youth yet, John. Not as long as there is an ember in your soul that ignites thoughts profound and tender. Not as long as the fire of your mind can cause anothers to combust with your words.

No, your youth is yet to be caught.

This is amazing, your Poem, your thoughts.

Hi, Sandra.

Oh, I am the first to admit that I am a big kid.  I like to say that I am in touch with my inner child!  Some people wish that I would grow up, but I have too much fun!

Anyhow, thanks for your amazing review, once again.  I am ferklempt!

Thanks, TL.

I am only being mysterious to protect tender sensibilites not my own.

Thanks for writing.
