In a Pennsylvanian Field

29 November 2004

In a Pennsylvanian Field
where the heroes lie today
Of what they had prevented
come what may

Lives given for the
sacrament of mankind
The blood and body
of savior resigned

So have you forgotten
about those brave souls
Whose efforts were in a hope
the world could stay whole

Of a moment frozen
into the grip of eternity
Where in a Pennsylvanian field
man triumphed towards maturity

"dedicated to those brave souls lost to 9/11"

Oh how we need to understand this. Whatever else we learn from 9-11, we should learn this right along with it -- we grew, mankind grew, if only by a tiny increment....and civilization  is such a fragile flower!

I will never forget the writing of this poem, and how I had viewed a short news item on television and those words began to flow

and one of those heroes was New Zealand born, some say he was one of the most important heroes there that day.

thank you all for stopping by to comment

Or as one man said, before it was chic to do so, "Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue."

That's Barry Goldwater, who was mocked, because that was the easiest way to attack what couldn't be refuted.

We could have lost the White House, or the Capitol Building....but we didn't, because some few of us were bold enough to prevent it.
