To me, the poem speaks of futility -- perhaps even the futility of violence. It reminds me of a poem I wrote that I will post in a few minutes  as "a poem Ratleader reminded me of." Thanks for sharing this Ratleader.

ah   subject and object.    Now that the "object" SEEN is known to have no definite form...  It is realized that FORM only exist in the SEEING of Form.
Now...the only thing left that "seems" absolute is the knife.  The subject now becomes an "object".  And only exist in the SEEING.  The blade cannot cut itself.   So...There is only...
SLASHING.
No "object" called "slasher" and no "object" slashed.    Just... Slashing
Which also will cease.
Then ...Free from the concept of being the "object" SEER and free from the concept of "objects" SEEN...
There remains only that which has always been...
The  SEEING.
Which IS    and its ALL in the SEEING.
Just as the blade cannot cut itself...
The eye cannot behold the eye.
::smiles::    All of my  blah  blah  blah aside...
A Fantastic write !

As shirtless said... this is futility defined brilliantly. *S* Mighty efforts gaining absolutely nothing... for that water won't change... won't even notice the churning. *S*

Of course... it will eventually evaporate? *G*

I echo shirtless and suthern - this is a brilliant poem with only few words....now that's powerful.

I'm saving this~

Intellectually I know that Canada is no better than any other country. Emotionally I KNOW that Canada is the best country in the world!

Oh, but when the knife slashes at water it alters the flow if only for an instant and in that instant history can be made.  But, yes, it could be perceived as futility if one is of such a mind.  I think I'll keep slashing away now that you've made me think about it.  Thanks, Ratleader!
