One, two, three - and - step to the left, step to the right,
come to the middle and shake your thoughts about
then stretch, go on stretch, up, up, and further up,
beyond the common everyday reach of mortal minds.

It hurts in the muscles?  That muscle called a heart?
Oh, I thought you always knew that this exercise of mind
pumps the pain of change in/out, in/out, in/out,
like a steam train in puff and strain through sun and rain.

You fell?  Goodness me!  That’s no catastrophe!
Look here and here!  Holes in soul have disappeared
for knowing there is love when all is said and done.

You want it now?  Be a dear and walk with me
along life’s pebbled road barefoot and all alone
then climb the mountainside of all you feel inside
before swimming in the sea of try, try, again.

Yes, it’s like a treadmill but only for a time
the sweat and tears, heartache, fear, and uncertainty,
before the suppleness of connectedness
surpasses the blockages of entrenched beliefs.

What then?  Well, I must say too curious by far
but I never promised knowledge as an addendum
or a body beautiful instead of how you are
So, there you are - that’s that -
when you stretch you snap right back!

Martie - Absolutely stunning!  One actually has to have been there to truly understand and yes, "it will need tears" - mine have been falling for longer than they were meant to.  Please, please, repost it, Martie, for me and the newbies.

Thanks, James, for the read.  Much appreciated.

It is all about stretching, Helen....you said this so well!  I keep hoping that when we snap back, we don't snap back to quite the same spot...lol.  Good to read you tonight, dear lady........jo

Never to the same spot - try it with a rubber band sometime!     Thanks, Jo!
