I've been on a steady roll
Down a long and rocky road;
With nothing much to show
for the toll it took on me.
Hoping that I'd find
some kind of peace of mind.
Is it somewhere, left behind
or someplace I've yet to be?

Just around the bend...
On a curve that never ends.
That's the way its always been
and I'm a sorry sight to see.
The miles have taken hold,
making everything seem old;
Leaving nothing but a hole
where my soul once used to be.

Everything I ever had,
rode heavy on my shoulders.
Everything I've tried to be,
turned out to be all wrong.
The Flame of Life,
that once burned bright,
has now begun to smoulder.
If I knew what I was looking for...
It wouldn't take so long.

This is great...It tells of everyone's search for something.

Your poetry is moving.

Thanks for penning your thoughts and mine.

sometimes I just need someone else to tell me what is bugging inside my head.

I enjoyed your poem very much and giggled at the humour of the last 2 lines.  However, I would like to suggest that you read another poem of yours (for inspiration) - one that I read recently, but don't recall the title - about needing to look around you to have it all - all the little things that add up to so much more than the big ones.  I understand that the 2 poems were written in different frames of mind.  However, I would like to say that
I am 60 and feel the lows and highs of every day, and wouldn't have it otherwise (well, not much!).  The lows make the highs worth so much more.  Perhaps you would be happier if you looked at more than you looked for.

aw  ((( OwlSA )))    Thank you for your kindness and concern.  Have no doubts...There is only bliss.    Even in the moments of disturbance...I find perfect peace.   I just enjoy playing with my own head at times and seeing what oozes out.  LOL   I visit it, but do not dwell there.   It is an interesting place.   But far too dark and disturbing for me to tarry long.  I rarely identify with what takes place there...but I often enjoy observing.    I am always honored that you take time to read.  Thank you again.
