Today when the sea’s complexity
meets the unmindful shore of her everyday
she withdraws within to unfathomable depths
with a sadness no current can shift
because there lies the mystique and magic
of everyone’s hopes and dreams.

She rocks to the tune of knowing the blues
and enters the feel into soul
with the mind of a woman undone
from the joys of an unseen love
but she dreams, you see, that sea and I
and rises right up to her sufferings
like the mighty and powerful sun.

Please speak, oh, mysterious sea
of oceanic beliefs and dreams
but she merely rolls to the shore
like a man on a mission of war
serious, grave, and intensely entwined
in the business of dropping tears
on the beach of unfulfilled needs.

But when dreams play hopscotch with real
and shout relief on the sidelines of grief
she knows she’s a modern day freak
with an unbridled imagination …
and this is the sea completely at ease
with the whisperings of fantasy
as she rolls in sync with time and tide
to the end of her present lifetime!

"She rocks to the tune of knowing the blues

but she dreams, "

this especially...is perfection...

I love how you painted this

Well, you being SEA and without a doubt mysterious as well would account for it.  Glad you enjoyed my sufferings - oops - offerings!
Thank you so much for the read.

Oh, to achieve that rhythm....now that is something in and of itself, Helen!   ...jo

Indeed it is, Jo, but really there's no other alternative when dealing with stubborn dreams that refuse to be real.

"But when dreams play hopscotch with real"
Adored this line!

The soul would have no rainbows, had the eyes no tears.

Helen, I do so enjoy your songs of the sea.

"as she rolls in sync with time and tide" ~ as does your writing!

Thanks, LeeJ and Linda, for the read.  Yeah, life rocks (as my kids would say) but it's the quesy feeling it leaves one with that's hard to take sometimes ... when one gets to my age!
