into my hand

now that this stone lies
cold               slick and wet
now that my hand
                             throbs
                             from the impact
now as I hold this stone
this stone               finally
I see it coming

waves        now I see
remembering         waves
coming      slow            small
from                  everywhere
random but forming
tiny          implacable      drawn
reasonless to here        to here
               rings of them coming

see how they coalesced
centering         all         centering
and sudden at the last
the desperate bits of water
        launching
after them           all
surging inward       joining

           just as a stone
this            very                stone
   leapt out shimmering
           arched high across
                    the pond
                            into my
                                 hand

Ahhh Ed....I often wonder how you see into things the way that you do....seems backwards, but it's SO RIGHT!!  Hugging you!

I don't think I have gleaned all there is from this little gem. I'm with sunshine, gonna think on it. I love having to do that. Enjoyed very much Ratleader! :-)

Yo John, I have indeed obtained poetry from such a jar....though in Arkansas not Tennessee... It's a good source of those waves really, and sometimes when it's employed everything gets wavy.....

Martie, thank you twice and twice twice, for keeping this piece of my soul off the bottom of the stack. I needed it!

Sunshine, everybody in fact, my thanks....this is as close as I've come, to saying how it is for me, and I do appreciate your responses.

I am so sorry I am late! I wish I had read this earlier.... I would have had more time to enjoy it. I really like it and I too, shall read it again and again.

I've often wished I could live inside your head... see with your eyes... think your thoughts... and maybe... just maybe... take away something that would allow me to write on your level... just once. *S*

But... I can't do any of that. So I thank you for this glimpse... even if a peek into the mechanics leaves me knowing that one bite at perfection wouldn't be enough. *S*

I love this beautiful write or your creative process! *S*

I'm so glad this came back up because I could have sworn I already replied to this...  it musta been when I was sneaking a peak from work and couldn't reply

Writing like this, is what makes everyone love poetry, whether they will admit it or not
This is a superb piece of work...

I loved the detail and the mechanics of this - not to mention the art and the imagery.  You always hold my attention in the palm of your hand, word by word by word.

Heh-heh-heh.....I'm already a rat, you know....and I seem to be constantly in the process of disappearing!

I will look for that book!
