I said I was a deep blue sea,
she said I was a pit.
I said your gentle on my mind,
she said she didn't give a well
you know I've loved some ladies,
but never one like her.
I said I was an old hound dog,
she said I was a cur.

It was love poems,
neath the pale moon last night.
I asked her for a little kiss,
and to hold me tight.
She said, "Thanks for the laugh,
that was funny as heck,
but I don't think your playing,
with an entirely full deck.

I said,"Listen here you saucy wench!"
I thought I'd try another approach.
I'm too shy to repeat it all,
but her reply ended with,"cockroach!"
I said,"Simmer down hon,
or you might spoil the mood."
She said,"Tell me,
What planet are you from dude?"

I can tell she's warming up to me though,
her knuckles ain't so white.
And the twitching of her eyes,
has slowed down just a mite.
Now she don't use the back door,
everytime I ring her bell.
Just the thought of it,
make my heart begin to swell.

I said I was a deep blue sea,
she said I was a pit.
I said your gentle on my mind,
she said she didn't give a well,
you know thats been years ago,
our courtin days have past.
Now I'm her number one,
and shes my better half.

When love comes knockin,
you can run but you can't hide.:-)

Persistent dude, aren't you?
I got a smile and a chuckle,
and those two things have been missing
me, lately.

Thank you for this, Steven.

Thank You Andrew, I'm glad I made you smile. :-)

Thank Dear Enchantress, I'm more of a loner than I like to admit. I still love to drop by and read even when I'm not posting. Consider the chuckles a return on all those you've invested in me. Thanks again.

Thank you too Dear Sunshine, You know what they say...persistence makes perfect, or something like that. The good thing about sunshine is no matter how dark the night we can always depend on it's return. I'm glad I could part the clouds if only for a moment. :-)

Steve!!  So good to see you!  I almost didn't read it because I'm not hard to get. The only part of the poem I believed was, "I said I was deep blue sea"  Yep, you are!

Thanks Martie, Shhhh don't tell anybody but...it was actually the other way around. :-)
Ouch!...just kidding hon!

Thanks Mysteria, your comment reminds me of playing chase with my childhood girlfirend. If she couldn't run fast enough to catch me I had to fall down. :-)

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY TO ALL!

And you Steven, have managed to capture
with words, the timeless steps of the ultimate flirtatious dance of man and woman.

oh that was wonderful.

That's the best bare bones courting poem I've ever read.  Very amusing too.
